John V. Farinacci

My mission is to ensure the RPG experience is positive and rewarding for every client.”

John has over 45 years of experience in the industry. Prior to founding RPG, John served as Executive Vice President of Quintiles Transnational Corporation, where he provided key leadership in acquisitions and integrations, helping Quintiles to become the CRO industry’s market leader. Previously, John served as President and Chief Operating Officer and held various other senior executive positions at Pharmaco (currently PPD). During his tenure there, John played a pivotal role in moving Pharmaco to the second largest CRO in the industry. He also worked with Sterling Drug earlier on in his career. He received the PharmaVoice 100 most inspirational leaders in the health and science industry in July 2009. John earned his degree in Biology/Chemistry at New York’s Russell Sage College.

patti charlton

Patti Charlton, CPA

Chief Financial Officer

Patti Charlton offers over 25 years of financial management experience, with a proven record of success within the healthcare industry and particular expertise within the field of contract research. Prior to joining RPG, Charlton held various positions of increasing responsibility at Pharmaco (currently PPD). Among her accomplishments are the development of a state-of-the-art job costing system, automation of the company’s billing process, and integration of operational and financial business metrics – a process which was pivotal in Pharmaco’s success. Charlton earned her Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration at the University of Texas at Austin.

alfonso alanis

Alfonso J. Alanís, MD

Chief Medical and Development Officer

Alfonso has been in the clinical development industry for over 37 years. Prior to joining RPG, Alanís was the CEO and Chairman of the Board of Anaclim LLC, a CRO focused on the enrollment of ethnically-balanced populations into clinical trials. Prior to working at Anaclim, Alfonso was an Executive at Eli Lilly and Company where he served in different functions for 21 years, including 7 years as the Chief Medical Officer and Vice President of Global Clinical Research. Alfonso was born in Mexico City where he attended Medical School, graduating magna cum laude from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). He obtained his Internal Medicine, Infectious Disease and Clinical Microbiology training at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio. Alfonso has been the recipient of different academic and research awards and honors, holds a number of licenses and certifications, and has authored several scientific publications and chapters in peer-reviewed medical journals and medical books. He is an active member of numerous professional societies.

Bill Taaffe

Corporate Development Officer

Bill brings over 45 years of experience in the pharmaceutical and CRO industry to the RPG senior management team. He was one of the founding members of ICON, where he held the position of President and CEO, North America. After spending 18 years with ICON, Bill retired from clinical research in June 2011. Prior to ICON, Bill worked briefly with Circa Pharmaceuticals and Bioresearch, a preclinical research organization, and nearly two decades with a global CRO, The Institute of Clinical Pharmacology, where he served as CEO, USA. Since leaving ICON, Bill has served on a number of Boards of Life Science companies and helped merge two small to mid-size CROs, Medelis and WCCT Global. He holds a B.S. from the University College Dublin, Ireland.

Becky (Causey) Carpenter

Chief Operating Officer

With over 25 years of experience, Becky is a well respected and established leader within the CRO industry. Prior to joining RPG in 2009, she was VP of Operations at INC Research where, in addition to starting the General Medicine and Women’s Health Division, her responsibilities included oversight for Project Management, Clinical Operations and specialty groups including study start-up, patient recruitment, and site contract management. Becky started her career at Pharmaco (currently PPD) where she held a succession of increasingly challenging roles including director level positions for several therapeutic areas, eventually serving as Executive Director of Project Management for the entire North American PM team from 2004 – 2007. Her current responsibilities include oversight of the Clinical Operations, Project Management, Data Management and Statistical service groups within RPG. Becky earned her degree in Psychology from the University of Texas in Austin, Texas.

david ng

David Ng, PhD

Vice President, Biostatistics & Data Operations

David has over 25 years of biostatistics, data management, and strategic management experience. David’s clinical development experience has spanned drugs, biologics and devices in many therapeutic areas including oncology, cardiology, CNS, immunology, and infectious diseases. David has successfully designed proof-of-concept endpoints and studies, resulting in FDA submission and approval of several products. David has worked to establish Data Management operations in Asia, and has been involved in the development of data management systems and processes for over 25 years, including working with many of the EDC and ePRO systems since the early stages of the EDC market. Prior to joining RPG, he held various senior management positions at PPD from 1988 to 2011, ranging from global operational line management to alliances and partnerships.

Natasha Hope

Vice President, Business Development & Marketing

Natasha has over 40 years of executive management experience working most of those years contributing to the early, significant growth of PAREXEL. Natasha brought Consulting Statisticians, Inc. (a small data management and statistical consulting company) to be uniquely positioned as PAREXEL’s first acquisition. From there, she led the integration team and went on to hold a variety of senior executive management positions during her 23-year career with the company. She was a major contributor to PAREXEL’s swift growth from its infancy to over 6000 staff members worldwide with 42 offices in 29 countries and was instrumental in supporting a successful IPO. After leaving PAREXEL, Natasha carried senior management roles with several nonprofit and for-profit start-up organizations, providing sales and marketing, account management, strategic planning and organizational development restructuring leadership support. Natasha holds a B.S. in Mathematics from Boston University and an M.S. in Biostatistics from Harvard.

Tracy Dugan

Tracy brings over 20 years of experience developing winning business strategies and directing proposal teams for various consulting firms, including 12+ years in the clinical development industry. Since joining RPG in 2005, she has served as the main coordinator for RPG’s global alliance and all partner relations, developed and fine-tuned pricing strategies, and led the sales and marketing teams. Prior to joining RPG, she served in progressively responsible roles for government contracting organizations in the fields of environmental engineering, IT consulting, and civil engineering. Tracy earned her bachelor’s degree in English and Technical Writing from the University of New Mexico.

Gernot Cremer, PhD

Director (based in Germany)

Gernot has been serving the pharmaceutical industry for over 22 years in international clinical research programs including all aspects of clinical project management, monitoring, drug safety and regulatory affairs for drug and device development. He received a diploma in Biology and a PhD in Biochemistry, both at Frankfurt University in Germany. Gernot held various positions at Quintiles, Sankyo Pharmaceuticals, and Medifacts International before he founded PRISMA-CRO in 2007. He is a current member of the German Society of Pharmaceutical Medicine. Gernot’s work has resulted in market approval for several antihypertensives and anti-diabetic drugs in Europe and the United States.

Ibrahim Farr, MD, PhD, FFPM (UK)

Director (based in Spain)

Ibrahim is a physician by training at the Autónoma University of Madrid, specializing in Psychiatry at the Maudsley Hospital Institute of Psychiatry – London. After a career in Clinical Medicine and Psychiatry, Ibrahim joined the pharmaceutical industry first as Associate Medical Director and then as the Medical Director for Marion Merrell Dow in Spain. Six years later he returned to academia at the Institute of Psychiatry London as a Research Fellow. He then returned to Spain in various senior positions in the Spanish / international pharmaceutical industry with Cyanamid, AHP-Wyeth, RPR and Aventis, where he was Senior Director Scientific Afffairs (R+D, Medical Affiairs, Regulatory Affairs) for Spain. Ibrahim founded Pivotal in 2001 and is currently the Chairman and CEO.

Stephen Levenstein, MD

Director (based in Israel)

Stephen qualified in Medicine at the University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa. He specialized in Pediatrics and worked in both private and hospital practices prior to joining the Pharmaceutical Industry where has now been for 19 years. Stephen served as Medical Director for Bristol-Myers Squibb in South Africa before transferring to Israel in the same position. In these roles he was responsible for the company’s research program from Phase 2 through to Phase 4 studies as well as post-marketing studies and surveys. He has experience in all of the major therapeutic areas. In 2004, Stephen moved to GCP Clinical Studies as Vice President of the newly created Research Division where he is responsible for all research activities.

Eugene Selivra, MD

Director (based in Russia)

Eugene is CEO of Global Clinical Trials (GCT). He is responsible for global operational oversight, corporate financial management, international office development, and communicating and negotiating with partners. Eugene has over 20 years of clinical research experience having managed and operated clinical sites in Arkansas, Florida and New York. Most recently, Eugene established and directed Winthrop-South Nassau University Health System Clinical Trials Network on Long Island.

Ingela Wiking

Director (based in Sweden)

Ingela is the owner and CEO of IRW Consulting AB, a CRO based in Stockholm, Sweden. Ingela, who holds a BSc in Nursing, worked for several years in the pharmaceutical and CRO industry, performing various clinical development functions, focusing primarily on three therapeutic areas: diabetes, cardiovascular, and infectious disease. She founded IRW in 1999. Under her management and leadership, IRW has grown to a full-service CRO providing clinical development support to biotech, pharmaceutical, and medical device companies throughout the Scandinavian region.
